Creative Arts East Screen

Rural And Community Cinema

Creative Arts East Screen is a community cinema network made up of volunteer promoting groups in rural Norfolk and parts of Suffolk, who screen anything from the latest blockbusters and timeless classics, to live-recorded theatre performances, foreign language films and contemporary independent titles. These screenings take place in non-urban areas which don’t usually have conventional cinemas on their doorstep in the way that larger cities and towns do. We provide portable cinema equipment, technical training, programming advice and special film licence discounts, helping communities come together to experience the magic of cinema in their local village hall or community venue.

What does it involve?

  • Choosing your membership tier. The majority of groups use our Standard Membership package, which includes our most comprehensive film licencing, marketing and support options.

  • Booking your venue, ensuring it is properly licenced with your local council.

  • Selecting the film you’d like to screen in your venue, and deciding on ticket prices. We provide recommendations and access to subsidised offers to help you.

  • Booking the film licence and equipment (should you need them) with our support, using our online booking system.

  • Promoting and distributing information about your screening, selling tickets and encouraging people to come.

  • Gathering together a team of volunteers to help organise and promote the event.

  • Acknowledging your partnership with Creative Arts East and our funders as much as possible.
