Manatomy

“The language, wit, insights, power of expression… Simply magnificent. You don’t have to have grown up gay to love and appreciate this poetry, but it will of course have a special charge, beauty and meaning for those of us who have” Stephen Fry
“Bold and startling” Julian Clary
“Utterly contemporary and impressively confessional. A book that was missing from the lives of many youths of my generation” David McAlmont
“Hilarious and honest, ‘Manatomy’ will help you understand gay life, love and sex better. It certainly helped me…” Jonathan Harvey

‘Manatomy’, the debut spoken word poetry collection from Norfolk writer James McDermott (Rubber Ring, Time & Tide, Robin Good) is a collection of wry witty cheeky poems exploring how nature, nurture, Norfolk, pop culture and politics have shaped his identity as a camp queer man.

Several poems from the collection were shot as a film produced by Inn Crowd and Applause Rural Touring. This 20 minute film will be screened at this event followed by a live reading from James McDermott who will perform 40 minutes of poems from the collection followed by a book signing.
