But beware, something is hovering in the blue sky ready to swoop down! A wonderfully wiggly adventure for all the family .

Join Garlic Theatre for a funny organic tale, with clowning and a host of colourful puppets, a beautifully crafted set and foot tapping music.

Double Bill – 50 Years of Classic British Horror – Theatre of Blood/The Wicker Man

Welcome to the second ‘50 Years of Classic British Horror’ at St George’s Theatre! This year we have two of the most superbly unique horrors from 1973 and the World Premiere of The Pocket film of Superstitions 2023.

We start at noon with an interview by The Vincent Price Legacy’s historian and collector, Peter Fuller and the wonderful Madeline Smith (James Bond: Live and Let Die; The Vampire Lovers etc). Madeline will discuss her memories of working with Vincent Price on our first film, ‘Theatre of Blood’ and will delight us with her recollections of working in 1973.

The second segment of the day will be dedicated to Carnie Films director and writer, Tom Lee Rutter who will introduce the film ‘The Pocket Film of Superstitions’ which stars Pauline Peart and Caroline Munro.

Our final iconic masterpiece will be ‘The Wicker Man’, in all its glory on St George’s big screen. Our very own landlord’s daughter, Britt Ekland (The Man with the Golden Gun; Asylum; The Monster Club etc) will be discussing the film and her career with the BFI’s Dick Fiddy.

This year we also bring you the Ultimate 1973 Film Quiz especially devised for us by Dick Fiddy and Martin Coxhead, with the opportunity to win some very special prizes!

Vermeer: The Greatest Exhibition

In the spring of 2023, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam opened its doors to the largest Vermeer exhibition in history.

With loans from across the world, this major retrospective brings together Vermeer’s most famous masterpieces including Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Geographer, The Milkmaid, The Little Street, Lady Writing a Letter with her Maid, and Woman Holding a Balance. In all, 28 of his surviving 35 works.

This new Exhibition on Screen film invites audiences to a private view of the exhibition, accompanied by the director of the Rijksmuseum and the curators of the show. A truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

As well as bringing Vermeer’s works together, both the Rijksmuseum and the Mauritshuis in the Hague have conducted research into Vermeer’s artistry, his artistic choices and motivations for his compositions, as well as the creative process behind his paintings.

Dance Along at the Movies: Cabaret

A participatory, cinematic experience for all ages.

Have you ever wanted to step into the movies and dance along with icons from the silver screen? Now’s your chance! This Cabaret dance-along is a feast for your eyes, ears and feet! Your hosts Glass House Dance will lead a simple workshop where you will learn key dance moves from the 1972 musical classic, followed by an interactive showing of the film. Suitable for all ages and levels of experience, the dance-along gives audiences an opportunity to enjoy their favourite films in a new way whilst having a joyful collective experience with others.

1931 Berlin, a young American Sally Bowles performs at the Kit Kat Klub, and new British arrival in the city, Brian Roberts, moves into the boarding house where Sally lives. As their friendship quickly develops, the stories of rich aristocratic Maximilian and two of Brian’s students, Fritz and Natalia, intertwine with theirs as the unstoppable rise of the Nazi Party looms on Germany’s horizon. Incred­ible songs and choreography from Bob Fosse make this film spectacular.

As Zoe films his hopeful journey to marry a stranger, she begins to wonder if she might have something to learn from a profoundly different approach to finding love.

In 1950s London, a widowed cleaning lady falls madly in love with a couture Dior dress, deciding she must have one of her own. After working to raise the funds to pursue her dream, she embarks on an adventure to Paris that will change not only her own outlook — but the very future of the House of Dior.
