Music-making experiences for young people!
With continued support from the Youth Music Catalyser Fund, we are now launching Move/Shake 2.0, the next stage of this place-based music programme.
Move/Shake 2.0 will continue to support young people to engage with music while also exploring different career development pathways into the creative industries, in partnership with a network of local and strategic providers.
The programme is designed to be youth-led and locally responsive, working with communities and artists to co-design activities that reflect the interests and aspirations of young people themselves.
When is it taking place?
Move/Shake began in 2022, but with renewed funding from Youth Music, the latest round of activities will be kicking off in Spring 2026, running through to March 2028.
Where is it happening?
We’ll be focusing delivery in five locations across Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, maintaining activity in
- Huntingdon
- Histon
- King’s Lynn
- Thetford
- Wisbech
Who is it for?
Most Move/Shake opportunities are designed for teenagers and young adults, with some sessions delivered for younger children too.
The programme is suitable for young person interested in music making and experience and learn about careers in music and the wider creative industries. Move/Shake will allow young people to build on existing skills (for example, if they play an instrument, or have an interest in sound design), but they can also be new to music too. Participants will have the opportunity to create music, experience live performances in their community, learn new skills, and collaborate with local artists and organisations.
Who will be running the activities?
Move/Shake is delivered by Creative Arts East in collaboration with local community partners and artists.
Activities are co-designed with participants, ensuring that young people have a voice in shaping the programme and the kinds of experiences they want to take part in.
Artists currently involved in delivering the programme include:

Ana Joyette Lewis (She/Her)
As an alternate ambient artist, I produce and write songs while experimenting with sounds that influence the process of my recordings and songs. I’ve adopted the theories of creative limitations, where the intention is to let limitations enhance the creative process. I also like to incorporate the techniques of found sound and improvisation into my creative practice and when I’m not writing, recording, or performing my songs, I teach singing, piano and facilitate music workshops.

Carl Cole (He/Him)
I am a performing musician and have played in many bands over the years. Over the last ten years I have been more focused on creating music and sound for films, as well as writing music for other forms, such as theatre, commercial work, and apps. Exploring the connection between science, sound and music has always been fascinating to me, and I spend a lot of time exploring ‘hidden’ sounds and new technology that presents interesting opportunities for sound creation.

Jack Johnson (He/Him)
My artistic practice revolves around my love for creativity. The guitar was my first love and my very first introduction to playing music. I love how the guitar is genre defiant, and incredibly expressive. I teach, develop, and facilitate musical projects, as well as write, record and perform as a guitarist, bass player and drummer.
