FAQs

  • Once you become a member, you’ll be able to browse our brochure of available work and book your first event with Creative Arts East.

Bookings are submitted online and managed by a member of our team, who will check film licensing or artist availability for your preferred date, or work with you to find a suitable alternative.

Once everything is confirmed, you’ll receive a contract or agreement to review, and then you can begin marketing your event and preparing for the big day!

  • Aside from your annual membership fee, the cost of hosting a live performance or cinema event varies depending on your selection.

Thanks to our principal funders, Arts Council England and the British Film Institute, we are able to offer a limited number of subsidies across the year to help reduce the financial risk for our members.

Full and subsidised costs of every available title are outlined within our brochure.

  • Our team curates a diverse programme of events tailored to your venues, offering something for everyone. From live music, theatre, storytelling, and dance to blockbuster films, independent titles, and recorded live performances from the West End. We are on hand to offer guidance and support to help you choose the right event for your community.

  • When planning an event, there are a few essential legal and logistical requirements to consider.

    General Event Licences

Your venue must be appropriately licensed to host public events. This may include:

    • A Premises Licence – typically held by established venues for regular events
    • A Temporary Event Notice (TENS) – suitable for one-off or occasional events in unlicensed spaces
    • Performing Rights Society (PRS) clearance – required if live or recorded music will be played (check with your venue, as many already hold this licence)

    Insurance

You must ensure the venue and event are adequately insured. At a minimum, this should include Public Liability Insurance to cover injury or damage claims from attendees or third parties

If you’re unsure about what’s required, consult your local council or an insurance provider for guidance.

Film Screenings – A Separate Licence

You need a specific licence for any public film screening (outside the home or a commercial cinema). This is called a Single Title Film Licence that is acquired from a distributor.

Creative Arts East can manage this process on your behalf, including contacting distributors and securing the appropriate licence, or you’re welcome to arrange it yourself.

Please ensure this licence is in place before your screening takes place.

  • Once you have completed our New Member Sign-Up form, you’ll receive a welcome email from one of our team members, packed with everything you need to get started.

This includes access to an online booking form, where you can easily submit bookings requests.
