Private detective Philip Marlowe is hired is hired by General Sternwood to help resolve the gambling debts of his wild young daughter, Carmen. Sternwood's older daughter, Vivian, provides assistance when she implies that the situation is more complex.
Before long, Marlowe finds himself deep within a web of love triangles, blackmail, murder, gambling, and organised crime and hatches a plan to free the family from this web and trap the real culprit
